A 12-Step Recovery Program

Have you called a phone or chat psychic to escape worry, trouble, boredom, loneliness, grief or loss while your bank account suffers or your credit card balance rises? Have you become so focused on a contact prediction happening that, when it didn't, you had to call again to see if something changed? Are you ashamed of how much you call or how many readers you speak to? Are you looking for a way to stop but nothing has worked? Do you put more faith in what a psychic says than the faith you have that life has good things in store for you?

You're not alone. Welcome to the reasons I decided to start this program. Psychic addiction is very real, and as of yet is is not "socially acceptable" the way that substance addictions are, so it remains a closeted habit buried in shame.

IS PYCHIC CALLERS ANONYMOUS FOR ME?

IF YOU'RE WONDERING, THE ANSWER IS PROBABLY YES!

PSYCHIC CALLERS ANONYMOUS is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from a psychic addiction problem.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop getting psychic readings. There are no dues or fees for Psychic Callers Anonymous membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. Psychic Callers Anonymous is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any cause. Our primary purpose is to stop calling psychics and to help other psychic reading addicts do the same.

Most of us have been unwilling to admit we had a real problem with the frequency and duration for which we called psychics. No one likes to think they are might be out of control with a habit, or can't manage our own life experiences. Therefore, it is not surprising that our habit may have become a "dirty secret" characterized by an attempt to appear to others as if we approach our challenges in life the way others would, or justifying how frequently we call in any manner we deem acceptable. The idea that somehow, some day, we will stop getting psychic readings and be in control of our lives, that magically one day it will all be okay and we will have moved on, is the goal of every person who calls psychics. The persistence of this illusion is astonishing. Many pursue it until they reach financial ruin or they learn the person they called about is happily in another relationship only then returning to forums and sites to "tell the truth" about the readers they consulted, warning others to stop picking up the phone.

We learned we had to concede fully to our innermost selves that our behavior is maladaptive and prevents us from living life the way God, as we understand Him, intended. This is the first step in our recovery. With reference to calling psychics, the delusion that we have chosen a healthy coping mechanism for life's challenges has to be smashed. We have lost the ability to control our need for psychic advice and have become obsessed with knowing the outcome of a situation. We know that no real psychic addict can ever get psychic readings "for entertainment only". All of us felt at times we were regaining control over when we sought psychic advice or how often, but such intervals - usually brief -were inevitably followed by still less control. We are convinced that we are in the grip of a progressive habit that may continue for years. Over any considerable period of time we get worse, never better. There is always another psychic to try.

Therefore, in order to lead normal happy lives, we try to practice to the best of our ability, certain principles in our daily affairs.

VIRTUAL MEETINGS

THIS SUPPORT GROUP MEETS ONLINE

Given that this is a brand-new support group, and most of us have found others in the same situation via forums and are located across the US, Psychic Callers Anonymous meetings will occur via phone conference.

SEEKING SPONSORS & SPEAKERS

DO YOU HAVE 6+ MONTHS "CLEAN"?

12-step programs include a vital component in regards to sponsors and speakers. A Sponsor is someone with at least 6 months "clean" who is willing to partner with someone fighting the behavior pattern and provide individual support to that person.

A Speaker is someone who will tell his or her story of psychic addiction to the group at occasional meetings, how it affected his or her life and how he or she eventually overcame it.

If you are interested in either of these roles, please contact the group by emailing psychiccallersanon@gmail.com
